Why I Made This

Because joy matters — especially the small kind.

I spend my days surrounded by yarn.
I run Yarn Dragon, a yarn shop built around beautiful fiber, creativity, and community. Yarn is already a joyful thing — but I kept thinking about how joy shows up outside of our projects, in the everyday moments we repeat over and over again.

Like making coffee.
Like holding a warm mug.
Like taking a quiet pause in the middle of a busy day.

That’s where Main Character Mugwear began.

I wanted everyday moments to feel special

We dress ourselves for comfort and expression.
We put sweaters on because they make us feel good.

So one day, I asked a very simple question:
Why not the things we love, too?

Main Character Mugwear are tiny knit sweaters designed to go on mugs and cups — not because they’re necessary, but because they make people smile. Because they turn an ordinary object into something personal. Because they remind us that joy doesn’t have to be practical to be worthwhile.

This is my way of choosing joy on purpose

Main Character Mugwear is intentionally whimsical.

It’s not trying to solve a big problem.
It’s trying to make life feel a little warmer, a little softer, and a little more fun.

In a world that often asks us to be efficient, serious, and productive, this is my quiet rebellion:
Make something delightful.

Made with the same care as everything I create

Every piece of Main Character Mugwear is:

  • Made using my own hand-dyed yarn
  • 3-D knit on my machines in Seattle
  • Slightly unique, just like the mugs they’re made for

If you know Yarn Dragon, you already know how much I care about materials, craftsmanship, and intention. This is an extension of that same philosophy — just scaled down to mug size.

Let your mug be the main character

If your morning coffee is a ritual…
If your tea break is sacred…
If you believe small things can hold real meaning…

Then this is for you.

Thanks for being here. I’m really glad you found this.
